  37. This CD collection of applications provided by our software partners, 
  38. along with the rest of the demos, tools and application software that 
  39. make up the Ultra(TM) Pack, is designed to help you take advantage of 
  40. UltraComputing. Try these applications and you will see how you can 
  41. reach a new level of functionality and productivity on your new Sun 
  42. Ultra system.

  44. The following descriptions of the partner applications on this CD have
  45. been provided by the respective companies.

  47. * Caldera Imaging Software - Cameleo is a unique professional software 
  48.   package for image acquisition, processing, retouching, RIP (PostScript
  49.   and HPGL/2), color calibration/separation and output.  It is the first
  50.   1 to 16 bits per color component software (RGB, CMYK, Grayscale) 
  51.   available on UNIX(R) workstations.  It supports many graphics peripheral 
  52.   devices not previously available in UNIX environments and allows seamless 
  53.   sharing of those peripheral resources, both printers and scanners, in 
  54.   heterogeneous client-server environments.

  56.   Graffiti is a 32-bit professional software package for image creation, 
  57.   manipulation, editing, and retouching/photocomposition.  It supports
  58.   24-bit images with 256 transparency levels per pixel with no size
  59.   limitations in eight different file formats.  It works on three 
  60.   distinct and mixable layers, enabling image mixing and photomontage,
  61.   in real time.  Cameleo and Graffiti work together to provide a total 
  62.   imaging solution, ideally suited to the superior imaging performance
  63.   of Sun's UltraComputing systems.

  65. * The Maestro Presentation Package - Maestro is a suite of more than ten 
  66.   applications that work together to form a flexible and simple authoring 
  67.   toolkit.  It is extensible so that new applications and media, such as 
  68.   MPEG movies and animations, can be added quickly and easily to the 
  69.   authoring environment.  It also takes full advantage of the 24-bit 
  70.   true-color graphics, CD-quality audio, and ONC RPC-based distributed 
  71.   computing that are standard features of UltraComputing systems from Sun.

  73. * Sun Microsystems Laboratories Tcl/Tk - Tcl is a simple scripting language
  74.   that makes it easy to build programmable applications and connect them 
  75.   together.  Tk is a graphical user interface toolkit based on Tcl:  it 
  76.   allows you to create GUI applications by writing Tcl scripts instead of 
  77.   C code.  Together, Tcl and Tk make it possible to build GUI applications 
  78.   five to twenty times more quickly than with traditional toolkits based 
  79.   on C or C+.  Because Tcl is an interpreted language, it provides
  80.   instantaneous turn-around during testing (no long waits for compilation),
  81.   but also requires high-performance systems, especially for large
  82.   applications.  The fast processors and blazing graphics of Sun's new 
  83.   Ultra machines are ideally suited to executing Tcl/Tk scripts, even for 
  84.   complex tasks.

  86. * SoftQuad HoTMetaL - SoftQuad HoTMetaL 2.0 is the newest version of
  87.   SoftQuad's freely available HTML authoring tool.  Based on HoTMetaL 
  88.   PRO 2.0, SoftQuad's award-winning commercial version, the freeware 
  89.   version allows users to easily create documents for publication on 
  90.   the World Wide Web. HoTMetaL's features include point-and-click markup 
  91.   and multiple toolbars from which common operations can be performed. 
  92.   HoTMetaL's rules-checking feature ensures users create valid HTML 
  93.   documents and its previewing capability allows documents to be 
  94.   previewed from within the user's browser of choice.

  96. * Doom from ID Software - Doom is the exciting 3D underground search and
  97.   destroy game that took the web world by storm in recent years. Using 
  98.   state-of-the-art compression techniques and animation algorithms, the
  99.   makers of Doom -- ID Software -- brought video arcade style graphics and 
  100.   performance to the PC for the first time. Now DOOM goes one better, and
  101.   has been ported specifically for the Sun Graphics architecture: DGA.  This 
  102.   version, called "DGA SunDoom", is the fastest, highest resolution version
  103.   of Doom you will find anywhere. It includes multi-player network support 
  104.   and runs especially well on the Ultrasparc Creator Graphics architecture.

  107. * Adobe Acrobat Reader - Adobe(R) Acrobat (TM) software lets you create 
  108.   electronic documents from a wide range of authoring tools for sharing 
  109.   across different computer platforms, including Solaris, SunOS, HP-UX, 
  110.   Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh.  Simply "print" your documents to the 
  111.   Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and distribute them over a broad 
  112.   selection of electronic media, including the World Wide Web, electronic 
  113.   mail, Lotus Notes (R), or CD-ROM.  From the simplest memos to the richest
  114.   color brochures, Adobe Acrobat software lets you publish and manage your 
  115.   documents electronically, preserving their original look and feel,
  116.   independent of computer platform or distribution media and without 
  117.   a large investment of time and money.

  119. * Faximum Fax Modem Software - Faximum Client/Server software provides a
  120.   friendly fax client combined with a powerful fax server that will enable
  121.   your UltraSPARC machine to provide fax services to your entire network
  122.   effortlessly and efficiently.

  124.   The graphical user interface lets users submit faxes from their workstations
  125.   easily while the command-line interface makes it trivial for programmers to
  126.   fax-enable their applications.  Advanced features include forms overlay,
  127.   least-cost route selection, and intelligent dialing, remote server
  128.   administration, support for PostScript and Sun raster files, and many more.

  131.   compatible with most Class 2 or 2.0 fax modems.
